Introduction
What the Sharda script is, why it is sacred to Kashmir, and how the Kendra is working to keep it alive.
Shardalipi Section
शारदा लिपि
Sharda is the script in which the learning, scriptures and manuscripts of Kashmir were written, a sacred link to Maa Sharda and her seat of knowledge. The Kendra teaches it again to a new generation.
श र दा
Once written across the temples, birch-bark manuscripts and learning of the valley, the Sharda script fell into disuse as the community was displaced. Reviving it is reviving memory itself, the Kendra runs structured courses, workshops and a growing archive so the script lives on in hands, not only in museums.
