Shardha Ashtami, the Foundation Day of the Kendra and a day of devotion to Maa Sharda, presiding deity of Kashmir's ancient seat of learning. The Sharda Puraskar is conferred each year on those who have served the community's language, literature and culture.

An MoU was signed between Vishwakarma Skill University, Haryana and SSK to revive and promote the Sharada script; the Sharda Puraskar was conferred on martyr Late Justice Nila Kanth Ganjoo.
